We had a journey by train as we wished to spend a few days at Puri during the Puja vacation. We travelled by the Puri Express which left Howrah station half an hour after the scheduled time. We expected the usual pre-Puja rush of passengers. But when we arrived at the station, we noticed, however, that the crowd was not so great. After getting into the train, we found that the compartment was full of passengers and frightful piles of luggage including pots and pans. Thus I had a sad experience inside the compartment but outside it there was a feast for our eyes. I was thrilled to see the vast open paddy fields and Sal and Mahuya forests on either side. It was amusing to see houses and trees slip backwards from the moving train. The train arrived at Puri in the evening. Though we had a pleasant experience on the whole, yet we felt weary with the heat and dust. So I was happy to get rid of it at last.
